What's really behind your career dissatisfaction?

August 08, 2026

Have you ever felt genuinely off at work, without being able to say exactly why? You're not burnt out, exactly. You're not in the wrong job, exactly. Something just isn't landing the way it used to, and you can't quite put your finger on what.

You're not alone in that. In my coaching sessions, it can take up a good chunk of time to get to the real pain point behind the dissatisfaction.

That's exactly why we've built this Career Needs Assessment.pdf

What It Does

The Career Needs Assessment is a short diagnostic tool designed to diagnose which of your core career needs are currently underloved and undernurtured. It looks right underneath the surface, at the specific needs that, when unmet, tend to show up as restlessness, resentment, or that sense of "this isn't working for me anymore."

Every career runs on a handful of fundamental needs, from the basics of security and fair reward, through belonging and recognition, all the way up to growth and a genuine sense of purpose in your work. When one of these needs goes unmet for long enough, it erodes how you feel about a job you might otherwise have no real complaints about.

How to Take It

Taking the assessment is simple. Just rate your satisfaction with the 20 simple statements about how different parts of your working life feel right now - not how they should be but how they actually feel day to day. There's no need to overthink your answers. The instinctive response is usually the most accurate one.

It takes about 5 minutes, and at the end, you'll see which of your career needs currently has the lowest score, in other words, the one asking loudest for your attention.

What to Do With Your Results

Sometimes, simply naming the need is enough to shift something. You'll read your result and think, "well, that explains a lot," and that clarity alone can be a relief.

Other times, you'll want to go further, to understand why that particular need has gone unmet, and what could realistically be done about it. If that's you, I'd love to help you work through it. You can book a free 30-minute career consultation with me here, and we'll spend the time looking specifically at your lowest-scoring need and exploring what might help it feel loved and nurtured again.
